Non Parlo Italiano

The comment posted below Extreme Update is from my friend Corina whom I met while I was researching Dolci di Love. The book is set in a fictional version of Montepulciano, one of the most divine hilltop towns in Tuscany. As I was travelling there on my own, which is not one of my favourite things, I signed up to Il Sasso language school so I wouldn't be lonely. I wasn't. I didn't actually learn very much Italian but I made some great friends among them Corina who was not in the dunces class like me but already speaks English, French, Italian and Romanian and works as a translator for the European Parliament. I think I have that right! Anyway, she was one of our gang of marauding language students who stalked the streets of Montepulciano seeking out the best gelati - and she makes a mean risotto. If you fancy a break from real life and want to go solo, I can highly recommend Il Sasso (ilsasso.com). They help with finding accommodation and cater for all levels of Italian speaking, or non-speaking, as the case may be. My friend Vicky is off there later in the month. Arrividerci!
